Europe Trip – Day 3 (May 12th)
Up early and ready to go, got the free breakfast again and started our journey around Barcelona with tons of things circled on the hostels map. First stop – the majestic fountain and national museum (no not for the art but the stunning view and steps up to the terrace that looks over the city). Teresa and I were unbelievably surprised and happy with how amazing it all was. From here we ended up venturing around the back which actually led us to the Olympic park from when it was held in Barcelona. Pictures pictures and more pictures, then we realized that we had hit more than half of our circled locations and also had not had a decent meal since breakfast (which consisted of toast, coffee and cereal flakes).
Headed back to La ramblas for some well deserved tapas. Ended up finding a 9 euro deal where you can order either pizza, pasta, or paella and get 3 sample tapas with it as well. SCORE
Again, I opted for wine because, well, I am in Spain. And it is crazy cheap so it is mandatory.
Viewed shops and boutiques then returned back to the hostel after a long day of walking and exploring for over 7 hours. Found our friends in the common area again and we decided to sit for a bit. Our flight the next morning to Portugal was at 630am so we had a shuttle scheduled to come pick us up at the hostel for 3am. Yes insane but saving 120 canadian is well worth it!
